About Dr. Schwartz
Education & Training
Dr. Schwartz is a psychiatrist trained in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry/Psychosomatic Medicine. After completing his medical school training at The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York he moved on to complete his internship at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College. Dr. Schwartz then completed both his General Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry/Psychosomatic Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident of the Consultation-Liaison Service. The Department of Psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital is ranked 9th in the nation among the Best Hospitals 2007 for Psychiatry in U.S. News & World Report. After completion of his training at Yale, Dr. Schwartz then went on to complete his Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Schneider Children's Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in New York. The Department of Psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center is also ranked among the Best Hospitals 2007 for Psychiatry in U.S. News & World Report, ranking 22nd.
While at Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Schwartz was trained in treating patients with co-morbid psychiatric and general medical conditions. As Chief Resident, Dr. Schwartz was in charge of organizing the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service and serving as the senior resident supervising and teaching medical students as well as the general psychiatry residents from Yale University School of Medicine.
Clinical Experience
Prior to his private practice, Dr. Schwartz worked at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan Connecticut for several years as an admitting and inpatient psychiatrist. Silver Hill Hospital is a nationally recognized, exclusive private psychiatric hospital specializing in the treatment of all psychiatric and addiction disorders. For years, Silver Hill Hospital has been one of the top substance abuse treatment centers in the country by providing acute inpatient care, as well as long term transitional care for Adolescents and Adults. In addition to all general psychiatric disorders, Silver Hill Hospital specializes in detox and rehab for all addictive disorders, as well as specialization in the treatment of eating disorders.
During his fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Schwartz worked at the Family Treatment Program, an outpatient mental health clinic which specializes in the treatment of addiction disorders, dual diagnoses, and general psychiatric disorders.
Presently, in addition to his private practice, Dr. Schwartz is a consulting psychiatrist for the The Journey at Sundance, an exclusive private dual diagnosis holistic treatment facility in Scottsdale Arizona. The Sundance Center provides personalized care, with a holistic approach, in a private setting. One of their specialties is the 'Executive Program', catering to executives from aound the country, as well as from around the world.

Dr. Schwartz is an expert in psychopharmacology and specializes in the treatment of all Child & Adolescent disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, OCD, Psychotic Disorders, as well as any behavioral and emotional problems associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Schwartz has additional specialization in the treatment of eating disorders of all ages including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder, working with patients in multiple treatment settings including inpatient, day hospital treatment, and the outpatient setting using both pharmacologic and psychotherapy modalities. Additional inpatient clinical experience in the treatment of eating disorders was obtained at Silver Hill Hospital.
In addition to his specialty in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Schwartz also specializes in the treatment of all General Adult Psychopathologies such as adult ADHD, Depression, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, as well as his extensive clinical experience in working with addiction disorders and dual diagnoses in the outpatient and inpatient setting, including detox.
